We all value our independence and many of us intend to live in our own home as long as possible. Yet staying at home is not always possible.
As you get older, your strive for independence can actually result in isolation, loneliness and increased confusion as your old familiar home just doesn’t make sense anymore.
Moving to The Limes means you join a community of people where, freed from many of the challenges of daily living, you are able to make new friends and join in a wide variety of activities, in a home that helps you to be as independent as possible while being safe.
Moving to a home like The Limes is a big decision and we help people make that transition much easier with our day care, and respite services.
Family is at the very heart of The Limes, The Limes was originally opened by Alan and Angela Dewen, who frustrated at their inability to find a residential care home with a real family feel to it for Alan’s parents decided there was only one option open to, and thus The Limes was born, with its first residents, Violet and Ted Dewen.
The Limes is now owned by their sons Myles and Alistair and they alongside Myles’ wife Jo are very involved in the day to day running of The Limes. Alistair, Myles and Jo are working towards their NVQ 3 and 5 respectively in Health and Social Care and often work alongside the Care staff. This helps them have a full understanding of what goes on in The Limes and gives them the opportunity to get to know each resident as the individual they are. Myles and Jo’s two boys Teddy and Bertie often come into The Limes and visit the residents.
