St Cecilia's
Award-winning Scarborough care provider Saint Cecilia’s will be flying the flag at both of its homes to celebrate Care Home Open Day and they are expecting a big turnout this year.
They are also using the day to reach out to any potential employees as they look to recruit staff to work for them.
Saint Cecilia’s Care Services is hosting parties at both Saint Cecilia’s Care Home on Stepney Road and Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home on Filey Road, on Saturday 21st April.
The events celebrate both the open day and the Queen’s Birthday and with the switch to a Saturday from the usual Friday, the homes are expecting a bigger turnout.
Scarborough MP Robert Goodwill, BBC television personality Harry Gration and the Mayor and Mayoress will be the special guests at both homes.
There will also a recruitment drop-in opportunity for anyone interested in working at either of the homes, as part of a campaign the company is currently running to recruit staff, in particular nurses.
At both homes, there will be fun, entertainment and activities, including sessions run by the SJT OutReach team and refreshments, including afternoon tea.
The homes’ owners say everyone is welcome to join in the fun and learn more about how care is delivered.
Managing Director Mike Padgham said: “We are really looking forward to Care Home Open Day this year. With the event switching to a Saturday to mark the Queen’s birthday, we expect a lot more people to be able to join us and it should be a great day!
“We will be throwing parties at both homes and also hosting a recruitment drop-in all day at the nursing home on Filey Road, for anyone who might be interested in working for us. We have a number of opportunities, particularly for nursing staff, and we would love to see anyone who wants to learn about working for the Saint Cecilia’s family of care services.”
This year’s theme for Care Home Open Day is Linking Communities and Mr Padgham is particularly keen for anyone who has never visited a care home to call in.
“There are a lot of myths about living and working in a care home and we are keen to dispel those,” he added. “Spare us half an hour to call in and learn more about how care is delivered in 2018.”
Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home has 44 bedrooms and provides 24-hour nursing care, looking after people with acute and life-limiting illnesses. Saint Cecilia’s Care Home on Stepney Road provides residential care for up to 21 people and specialises in caring for those with dementia and confusion. The company also has Saint Cecilia’s Day Care centre at Eastway in Eastfield, Scarborough, which offers friendly, fun and compassionate day and respite care, including activities, nutritious food and companionship.
