Crook care home embraces community spirit at open day

Care homes across the region opened the doors to the public on Friday (June 19) to strengthen links with the communities they serve.

At Bradbury House, a Leonard Cheshire Disability care home in Crook, County Durham, residents and visitors enjoyed a host of activities, including flower arranging, felt-making and parachute exercises.

The event was part of Care Home Open Day, a nationwide initiative to challenge misconceptions about care homes.

There was also a raffle, cake stall, buffet and opportunity to chat to staff, residents and volunteers.

Activities manager Alison Beadle said: “We are part of the community and this is a chance for people to come in and get to know the staff and residents even better.”
