The future of Care Home Open Day: Update
Care England, NAPA and NCF thank you all for your participation, support and enthusiasm for Care Home Open Day. Particular thanks to HC One, BUPA, Care UK, Four Seasons Healthcare, Anchor and Barchester, all members of Care England, for funding the initiative without which it would not have been possible to roll out the programme on the national stage for seven years in a row.
We would like to thank all the care homes who have participated in Care Home Open Day over the years, we are so grateful for the effort which goes into planning all the exciting, innovative and meaningful activities.
Our gratitude goes to all the members and staff of Care England, NAPA and NCF who were the driving force behind Care Home Open Day and special thanks Kevin Mochirey.
Care Home Open Day has helped open doors and demonstrate just how valuable care homes are to their communities. We are immensely proud of all the participants. Dedication, creativity and fun are bit a few of the themes that have run through all the successful open days and we hope that moving forwards every day is an open day in your care home.
Moving forwards I hope that you will be able to use this website as a place to gain tips on how best to engage with your community and whilst we don’t anticipate any more official Care Home Open Days we are looking at how we can best use our resources to promote care in a different way.
Care homes really are the hub of their communities, let’s keep it that way and continue to connect.

“We have learned so much from the previous seven years of Care Home Open Day and 2019 is well on its way to being a fantastic celebration marking the importance of the arts in care”.

"The creative arts play a key role in encouraging self expression, sharing emotions and reminding everyone that many residents have talents that come to the fore when given the right environment to flourish. We would also like to see community based arts groups visiting the homes on the Open Day to share their skills and experiences too”.
